Moretonhampstead Classic Car Museum Visit
On Sunday 17th May 2015, members of the Southwest Region visited the Moretonhampstead Classic Car Museum on Dartmoor and what a great day it was. About 30 of us spent an hour or more looking round the exhibits – the personal achievement of Frank Loft, who bought the building, previously a country bus company garage, renovated it, and filled it with almost a hundred vehicles, a collection he is continually adding to.
The collection has two Armstrongs – Cyril Voce’s lovely Lancaster and a 1926 15HP open tourer. There is a wide range of other cars from across the years. He also has a selection of motorcycles, most of which were on the road in my youth and I couldn’t afford one. If you are in Devon, the museum is worth a visit. In true AS fashion we all then went for an excellent lunch at the White Hart pub in the village – old cars, good food, great company – what could be better?
