Southern Area 2016 Daffodil Run
On Sunday the 17th April, five pre-war Armstrong Siddeley cars gathered at the New Inn, Heckfield, just south of Reading, along with an assortment of other makes at the start of the charity run in aid of the Macmillan Nurses. This event organised by the Bean Car Club known as 'The Daffodil Run' has several starting points and cars come together at Stockbridge, Hampshire. Passing on through the New Forest and gathering on the green overlooking the River Stour at Christchurch in time for tea. Two more Armstrong Siddeleys joined in at Stockbridge making seven of 'our' cars taking part. A fair representation of one make in a total turnout of just over one hundred and seventy assorted vehicles, certainly sufficient for several onlookers to make favourable comment.
Taking part were Mike Darley, Chris Warner and John Stoodley in Siddeley Specials. Brian Hayter, Seventeen HP, Steve Hayward, 16hp. Geoff Poplar, 12hp and the Armstrong Siddeley Heritage 17hp car.
The weather turned out to be one of the really good days we have had so far this year and all the cars behaved impeccably returning to their garages without incident.
